OUR MISSION

To promote preservation of traditional needlework and quilting techniques, while encouraging experimentation in contemporary application of these techniques.

Our 2009 Opportunity Quilt

WE WELCOME YOU

The Sierra Mountain Quilters Association was founded in 1980. A love of quilting was the only requirement for membership then and still holds true today. Our group meets on the first and third Thursday of every month except December. Meetings are held in Whittenburg Hall at Community Church of Oakhurst at 6:30 p.m. Activities at these meetings may include a guest speaker, workshop, technique  demonstrations, slides or videos, as well as “Show-n-Tell.” See calendar of events on this site. Annual dues are $25.00.

In addition to the two monthly meetings, “circles” have been formed. These meetings are usually held at different member’s homes and host various projects. These groups may also elect to do friendship squares.

The guild hosts a biannual quilt show. Other activities include making raffle and cuddle quilts and displaying member’s quilts at local locations. SMQA has a lending library containing quilting books, magazines, patterns, etc. Members may check out these books for two weeks, and videos may be checked out for one week.

A monthly newsletter will be mailed to each member requesting a hard copy at the end of each month. Articles of interest along with the monthly activities schedule, news and current events are posted to keep us informed. The newsletters may also be downloaded from the site under the “newsletter” link.

Our membership roster may not be used for commercial purposes and is securely password protected for members only.

We Welcome You!

Guests are welcomed to attend. We request $5.00 when attending a meeting as a visitor. Should you decide to join, you may do so by accessing the “registration” link on the site or downloading the application and mailing application and check to us at P.O. Box 1359, Oakhurst, CA 93644.
